Troubleshooting

The Refrigerator will not Operate

Cause: Power cord unplugged, outlet not working, blown fuse, circuit breaker tripped, controls off, or refrigerator defrosting
Solution: Plug into grounded outlet, test outlet with lamp, replace fuse or reset circuit breaker, turn controls on, or recheck in 45 minutes if defrosting

The Motor Seems to Run too Much

Cause: High-efficiency compressor and fans, warm room temperature, large food load, doors opened often, or doors left open
Solution: This is normal operation. Close doors more frequently and minimize door openings.

If the Refrigerator is Noisy

Cause: Normal operational sounds including buzzing, pulsating, rattling, sizzling/gurgling, popping, water running, creaking, or banging
Solution: These are normal sounds. If banging occurs during ice/water dispenser operation, a water hammer arrestor may be required.

There is no Audible Door Open Alarm

Cause: Door has been open less than 10 minutes
Solution: Door open alarm only sounds if door is left open for more than 10 minutes. Audible alarm sounds first time, subsequent alarms only flash.

The Doors will not Close Completely

Cause: Door blocked by food packages or bins/shelves out of position
Solution: Move food packages away from door and push bins/shelves back into correct position

The Doors are Difficult to Open

Cause: Gaskets dirty or sticky
Solution: Clean gaskets with mild soap and warm water

The Lights Do not Work

Cause: Refrigerator in Sabbath mode or door open for more than 10 minutes
Solution: Exit Sabbath mode or ensure door is closed for lights to activate
May require a professional

Temperature is Too Warm

Cause: New installation, doors opened often or left open, large food load added, controls not set correctly, refrigerator not cooling, or air vents blocked
Solution: Allow 24 hours after installation, minimize door openings, wait several hours for cooling, adjust controls colder, reset refrigerator by turning off and on, or remove items blocking air vents

There is Interior Moisture Buildup

Cause: Humid room conditions or doors opened often or left open
Solution: Minimize door openings and keep doors fully closed. Some moisture buildup is normal.

The Ice Maker is Not Producing Ice or not Enough Ice

Cause: Water supply not connected or shut-off valve off, kinked water line, ice maker not turned on, new installation, large amount of ice recently removed, ice cube jammed, or reverse osmosis system reducing water pressure
Solution: Connect water supply and turn shut-off valve fully open, straighten water line, turn ice maker on, wait 24-72 hours for new installation, wait 24 hours after removing large amount of ice, remove jammed ice with plastic utensil, or check water pressure requirements for reverse osmosis systems
May require a professional

The Ice Cubes are Hollow or Small

Cause: Low water pressure indicated, water shut-off valve not fully open, kinked water line, or reverse osmosis system reducing water pressure
Solution: Turn water shut-off valve fully open, straighten water line, check water pressure requirements, or call licensed plumber to check water pressure

Ice is Sticking Together in the Ice Storage Bin

Cause: Frost on top of storage bin from normal door opening/closing or ice not dispensed frequently
Solution: Empty and clean ice storage bin as needed. This is normal behavior.

Off-Taste, Odor or Gray Color in the Ice

Cause: New plumbing connections, ice stored too long, odor transfer from food, minerals in water, or water filter needs flushing
Solution: Allow time for new plumbing to clear, discard old ice and wash bin, use airtight moisture-proof food packaging, install water filter for minerals, or flush water filtration system

The Ice Dispenser Will Not Operate Properly

Cause: Freezer door not closed completely, ice bin not installed correctly, new installation, ice stuck in delivery chute, wrong ice added, or ice melted around auger
Solution: Close freezer door firmly, ensure ice bin is firmly in position, wait 24-72 hours for new installation, clear delivery chute with plastic utensil, use only ice from current ice maker, empty container and use warm water to melt ice if necessary, or change ice button from crushed to cubed
May require a professional

The Water Dispenser will not Operate Properly

Cause: Freezer door not closed, water supply not connected or shut-off valve off, low water pressure, kinked water line, new installation, clogged or incorrectly installed filter, or reverse osmosis system reducing water pressure
Solution: Close freezer door firmly, connect water supply and turn shut-off valve fully open, verify water pressure is at least 30 psi, straighten water line, flush water system for new installation, check water filter installation, or address reverse osmosis system water pressure requirements

Water is Leaking from the Dispenser

Cause: Glass not held under dispenser long enough or new installation/recently changed filter
Solution: Hold glass under dispenser for 2-3 seconds after releasing lever, or flush water system after new installation or filter change. One or two drops after dispensing is normal.

The Dispenser Water is not Cool Enough

Cause: New installation, recently dispensed large amount of water, water not recently dispensed, or refrigerator not connected to cold water pipe
Solution: Allow 24 hours after installation for water to cool, wait 24 hours after dispensing large amounts, discard first glass of water, or ensure connected to cold water supply pipe
