Troubleshooting

The Refrigerator will not Operate

Cause: Power cord unplugged, outlet not working, blown fuse/tripped circuit breaker, controls off, refrigerator defrosting, or new installation
Solution: Plug into grounded 3-prong outlet; test outlet with lamp; replace fuse or reset circuit breaker; turn controls on; wait 45 minutes for defrost cycle to complete; allow 24 hours after installation for cooling

The Motor Seems to Run too Much

Cause: High-efficiency compressor, warm room temperature, large food load, frequent door openings, or doors left open
Solution: This is normal behavior; reduce door openings and keep doors closed; allow warm items to cool before adding to refrigerator

If the Refrigerator is Noisy

Cause: Normal refrigerator sounds from water valve, fans, compressor, refrigerant flow, water line, contraction/expansion, defrost cycle, ice ejection, or water hammer
Solution: These are normal sounds; check for water hammer arrestor if banging noise occurs during ice maker or water dispensing

There is no Audible Door Open Alarm

Cause: Door open less than 10 minutes
Solution: Door open alarm only sounds after door has been open more than 10 minutes; reset alarm after sounding

The Doors will not Close Completely

Cause: Door blocked open by food packages, or bin/shelf not properly positioned
Solution: Move food packages away from door; push bin or shelf back into correct position

The Doors are Difficult to Open

Cause: Dirty or sticky gaskets
Solution: Clean gaskets with mild soap and warm water

The Lights Do not Work

Cause: Refrigerator in Sabbath mode or door open more than 10 minutes
Solution: Exit Sabbath mode; close door and reopen

Temperature is Too Warm

Cause: New installation, frequent door openings, large food load, incorrect control settings, refrigerator not cooling, or blocked air vents
Solution: Allow 24 hours after installation; minimize door openings; allow several hours for temperature to return to normal; adjust controls colder; turn refrigerator off and on to reset; remove items blocking air vents

There is Interior Moisture Buildup

Cause: Humid room or frequent door openings
Solution: Minimize door openings and keep doors fully closed; note that some moisture buildup is normal

The Ice Maker is Not Producing Ice or not Enough Ice

Cause: Refrigerator not connected to water supply, shut-off valve off, kinked water line, ice maker off, new installation, large amount of ice removed, ice jammed in ejector arm, or reverse osmosis system reducing pressure
Solution: Connect to water supply and turn shut-off valve fully open; straighten water line; turn ice maker on; wait 24-72 hours for new installation; remove jammed ice; check reverse osmosis system pressure

The Ice Cubes are Hollow or Small

Cause: Low water pressure from closed shut-off valve, kinked water line, or reverse osmosis system
Solution: Turn shut-off valve fully open; straighten water line; check reverse osmosis system pressure; call qualified plumber if pressure questions remain

Ice is Sticking Together in the Ice Storage Bin

Cause: Normal frost buildup or infrequent ice use
Solution: Empty and clean ice storage bin as needed

Off-Taste, Odor or Gray Color in the Ice

Cause: New plumbing connections, ice stored too long, odor transfer from food, minerals in water, or water filter needing flushing
Solution: Discard ice and wash bin; allow 24 hours for new ice; use airtight packaging for food; install water filter if minerals present; flush water system if discoloration occurs

The Ice Dispenser Will Not Operate Properly

Cause: Freezer door not closed, ice bin not installed correctly, new installation, ice stuck in delivery chute, wrong ice type in bin, ice melted around auger, ice dispenser stalling, or dispenser arm held too long
Solution: Close freezer door firmly; ensure ice bin is firmly in position; wait 24-72 hours for new installation; remove stuck ice with plastic utensil; use only ice from current ice maker; empty container and melt ice if necessary; switch from crushed to cubed ice; wait 3 minutes for motor to reset

The Water Dispenser will not Operate Properly

Cause: Freezer door not closed, not connected to water supply, low water pressure, kinked water line, new installation, clogged water filter, or reverse osmosis system
Solution: Close freezer door; connect to water supply and turn shut-off valve on; check water pressure is at least 30 psi; straighten water line; flush water system for new installation; check water filter installation; verify reverse osmosis system pressure

Water is Leaking from the Dispenser

Cause: Glass not held under dispenser long enough, new installation, or recently changed water filter
Solution: Hold glass under dispenser 2-3 seconds after releasing lever; flush water system after new installation or filter change

The Dispenser Water is not Cool Enough

Cause: New installation, large amount of water recently dispensed, water not recently dispensed, or not connected to cold water pipe
Solution: Allow 24 hours after installation for cooling; allow 24 hours for water supply to cool after heavy dispensing; discard first glass of water; ensure connected to cold water pipe
